New Year’s Eve in Paris collage with Eiffel Tower, Christmas lights, city streets and winter vibes

Spending New Year’s Eve in Paris is an unforgettable experience. The city is filled with festive lights, romantic vibes, and a sense of magic that only Paris can offer. Even though I was there for a short time, I managed to explore a lot, and I’m already planning my next trip to dive deeper into this incredible city.

Must-See Attractions in Paris

During my stay, I visited several iconic landmarks, including:

  • Eiffel Tower – While it’s one of the most famous landmarks in Paris, it’s a must-see. The view from the areas around the tower is unforgettable and definitely worth the visit.
  • Louvre Museum: Unfortunately, the Louvre was closed until January 5th during my visit, but I was able to admire its stunning exterior and the famous glass pyramid. This gives me the perfect excuse to return to Paris for an even deeper exploration of one of the world’s greatest museums!
  • Galeries Lafayette: This famous department store is beautifully decorated during the holidays. The Christmas lights and displays were a sight to behold, and even if you’re not shopping, it’s worth a visit just to see the gorgeous decorations.
  • Musée Dior: A beautiful museum dedicated to the world of Christian Dior. I didn’t get the chance to go inside, but it’s definitely on my list for next time.
  • Opéra Garnier: The Opéra Garnier is a masterpiece of architecture and a perfect spot to admire the grandeur of Paris. Whether you’re a fan of opera or just appreciate stunning buildings, it’s a must-visit.
  • Arc de Triomphe: One of Paris’s most iconic monuments, the Arc de Triomphe is a fantastic place to visit and offers another beautiful view of the city.
  • Notre Dame: Even though it was under restoration, the beauty of Notre Dame from the outside was still breathtaking. It’s a perfect stop on your Parisian itinerary.
  • Musée d’Orsay: This museum is housed in a former railway station and is home to an impressive collection of Impressionist art. It’s another great place I plan to visit on my next trip.
  • Sacré-Cœur Basilica: Perched on top of Montmartre, the Sacré-Cœur Basilica offers panoramic views of the city. The area around it, especially Place du Tertre, is charming and full of artists.
  • Pantheon: A stunning building that serves as a burial site for notable French figures. The architecture is incredible, and the history is fascinating.
  • Pont Alexandre III: This bridge is one of the most beautiful in Paris, with its ornate sculptures and stunning views of the Seine and the city.
  • Versailles: While I didn’t make it this time, the Palace of Versailles is definitely a must-see on your list, known for its opulent palace and the stunning gardens that surround it.

Food in Paris

When it comes to dining, I like to eat light and healthy, and I had some amazing meals in Paris:

  • Wild & The Moon: A great spot for healthy, plant-based food. It’s cozy, delicious, and perfect for a light, refreshing meal.
  • Land & Monkeys Bakery: Known for its delicious pastries and organic offerings. A perfect place for breakfast or a midday treat.

Getting Around Paris

The metro was a bit challenging, especially during peak times around the holidays. Trains were packed, and sometimes they didn’t even stop at stations due to the crowds. When you do manage to get on, it’s crucial to keep an eye on your belongings, as it can get very crowded.

Transfer from Beauvais Airport

For my transfer from Beauvais Airport, I took the bus, which cost €17 for a round trip. The journey takes about an hour, so it’s a good option if you’re coming in from this airport.

Paris Neighborhoods

Before booking your accommodation, make sure to check that the neighborhood is safe. Paris is divided into several districts, and while most are quite safe, it’s always best to double-check. My hotel was a bit further from the center, but with 105 km² to explore, many places are walkable.
